Missions: Japan
Japan
“Sharing the Good News of the Risen Son in the Land of the Rising Sun.”
One year ago this November marked the beginning of our Journey to Japan. We are a family of three, going on four, whom God had convinced to leave our life in the United States to move overseas to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to those in Hiroshima, Japan. We didn’t need too much convincing because we ourselves are so grateful for the hope that we have in Jesus that we are compelled to share this good news with others who are willing to hear. Leaving our normal life in America will not be easy, but the joy of helping to save a life easily outweighs the challenges we’ll face in missing family and friends, and adapting to a new language and culture.
Japan is not a place where most people think would need any missionaries. Japan is an affluent nation with rich culture and history. However, Japan only has a 0.4% Christian population, and one of the highest suicide rates in the world. One verse that spoke to Peter early on in his Christian life was Matthew 16:26, which says “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” Yes, many Japanese are very well off from a worldly perspective, but there is an emptiness that worldly possessions can not satisfy. We hope to go to Hiroshima, Japan to help fill the emptiness with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
When we arrive in Hiroshima, hopefully by Fall 2010 (depending on fundraising), we will partner with two local Japanese pastors to plant a church in Hiroshima through relationship evangelism. Check out our blog at http://risingsoninjapan.blogspot.com/ to find out more about us and this journey God is taking us on to Japan.
God bless,
